Downstream Product Manager / Market Development

EMEA

The Opportunity

Our client is a VC-backed surgical technology business bringing a genuinely novel innovation to the operating room, the first meaningful advance in its category in years, not an incremental upgrade. With strong clinical traction already established and customer adoption accelerating across Europe, this is a rare chance to join at a real inflection point, with the autonomy to help shape what comes next.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Officer, EMEA, this is a frontline commercial role at the heart of the business's distributor network and priority accounts across Europe. You'll drive relationship momentum, provide field presence where it's needed most, and feed insight back into commercial decision-making, then build into a broader downstream marketing and market-development remit as your knowledge of the business and its markets deepens.

This is a genuinely commercial role first and foremost. You'll build real depth in the clinical and technical side over time, but we're looking for someone who leads with commercial instinct and proactivity, not someone who leads with clinical credentials.

What You'll Do

·      Act as the frontline point of contact with distributor partners across priority European markets, driving relationships and account progression independently

·      Provide case coverage and field presence atpriority accounts, including deal-critical evaluations, particularly where the Commercial Officer can't attend directly

·      Feed structured field intelligence back into commercial planning and reviews

·      Support distributor teams with training, objection handling, and practical field tools

·      Build, over time, into evidence generation, KOL relationship development, and downstream marketing content

What We're Looking For

·      A proven track record in field commercial or distributor-facing roles within capital equipment medical device sales

·      A genuinely proactive, self-starting approach, someone who drives relationships and outcomes forward independently, rather than waiting to be contacted

·      Experience within an SME or scale-up commercial environment

·      Experience working in Southern European markets (Italy, Spain) at some point in your career, you don't need to live there now

·      Comfort with long, complex capital equipment sales cycles (6–12+ months) rather than transactional selling

·      Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Europe

Preferred, not essential

·      Exposure to laparoscopic surgical technology

·      Experience with surgical energy devices, visualisation systems, or related capital equipment

·      Additional European languages beyond English

Why This Role

·      Join a business at a genuine inflection point,with a product that's a true category innovation

·      Real autonomy to build the role your way — alean, low-bureaucracy environment, not a heavy corporate structure

·      A clear path to broader scope over time forstrong performers, potentially including wider EMEA and US involvement

·      Be part of a fast-growing, VC-backed business with strong clinical and commercial momentum
